We have always asked ourselves, there is something missing in all of this, there is something more.

Everyone longs to have an affair, an adventure. But the whole world tells us to appease our hearts. Eventually, we are forced to give up our spiritual journey because our heart will not longer come with us. We have bound it with little worldly indulgences we feed it to keep it at bay.

A life without heart is not worth living. It is in the deepest recesses of our hearts that we first heard the voice of God, just as Samuel did in the middle of the night. We have to know how to respond for it is in our hearts that we will come to know our Father and learn about his love.

The many worldly activities—they assault our hearts. WE are measured by the world’s standards. It is no longer what we DESIRE to do but what we OUGHT to do. The world suppresses our innermost yearnings because we live in a world where people’s APPROVAL matters so much, a world where efficiency and performance are everything.

Wherever we are, we are wanted for what we can offer, we are honored for our LOOKS, our INTELLIGENCE. We separate ourselves with out hearts. Even if we are Christians, being very busy in church, we have the tendency to replace COMMUNION with God with ACTIVITY. We lose heart in so many ways.

Our life becomes a cycle of school, paying bills, seeking the approval of others. We play, work, grow old…carving out an identity based on what others see and no longer based on what our hearts tell us.

We have to see the spiritual dimension of the world we live in. We have to rekindle the dreams and passions we have believed in as children. With much planning and hard work, we can have successful lives. But the heart does not respond to principles and strategies, the heart only lives with passion.

In the middle of the night when the hustle and bustle have faded away and in the early morning when all the busyness of the day have not yet crept in, that’s when the voice is most audible. Today, we have to ask ourselves, when did we stop listening?

very insightful post. I agree that we get way to caught up in the mundane things of life.
